All elements are standards-based and optimized to address the specific challenges identified above. Whether deployed all together or only at your pain points, Ciena products make your partial solutions complete. Our solutions currently serve more than 20 million homes and have been selected for millions more around the globe, so Ciena's expertise in triple play networking applies to multiple types of service providers and challenges. Services supported include broadcast video, video on demand, IPTV, network-based DVR, online gaming, video telephony, VoIP and more.
Adds triple-play capable xDSL to existing remote cabinets without new construction and without any loss of POTS capacity
Adds 400 Gb/s of DWDM capacity to lit SONET/SDH fiber rings with no service impact
Reconfigures C/DWDM capacity at 155 Mb/s granularity to get the most out of every wavelength and provision bandwidth where and when you need it, just in time
Integrated Ethernet switching and optical transport eliminates extra network elements and enables more robust network protection, including mesh restoration, to reduce both CAPEX and OPEX
Overcome VLAN scalability issues using advanced ATM-Ethernet service interworking to converge onto a single
Ethernet backbone network and retire or redeploy ATM switching and transport elements
Software reprovision SONET/SDH ports to GbE ports when the ATM/POS to IP/Ethernet transition hits full stride, with full investment protection
Let our experienced staff assist
you with your configuration and engineering requirements.

The CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform is a new generation multiservice transport
and Aggregation platform capable of supporting any transport protocol—including Time Division
Multiplexing (TDM), Ethernet, storage or video—on any available port, even when on the same line card.

The CN 4200 drastically reduces CAPEX and OPEX as a result of fewer hardware elements and innovative
technologies—including advanced switching and grooming, and remote programmability. Sub-wavelength
grooming and a fixed Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (OADM) provide 78% greater efficiency than competing
ROADM solutions. Remote programmability reduces provisioning times by 95%, eliminates truck rolls and
saves planning and engineering costs. Additionally, using FlexiPort technology reduces sparing costs by 66%.
Using ITU G.709 standards-based technology (also known as Digital Wrapper) the CN 4200 grooms multiple
optical services running on any port, onto higher-speed wavelengths. These higher-speed wavelengths,
OTU1 (2.7 Gb/s) or OTU2 (10.7 Gb/s) signals, carry any mix of individual services up to 10 Gb/s.
Standards-based protocols supported include: 10/100/1000 Ethernet, 10 Gb/s Ethernet, OC-3/12/48/192
or STM1/4/16/64, FC/FICON®, ESCON®, OTU1, OTU2.

The CNX-5Plus provides up to 96 ADSL2+ subscriber ports in
a single low-profile shelf that is installed directly inside existing cabinets. Costly site
modifications—such as pouring new pads and adding adjunct DSLAM cabinets—are unnecessary.
Integrated POTS splitters eliminate the need for external splitter shelves and an innovative
"make before break" feature ensures voice services are never impacted, even when a DSL card is removed.
Modular Design The CNX-5Plus supports copper and fiber network interfaces to provide the flexibility
required in the highly variable outside plant transport network. Carriers can grow capacity in 4 port
increments to match costs with revenues as market demand develops. The CNX-5Plus supports multiple
subtending nodes, including mixed CNX-5 and CNX-5Plus ring topologies, to scale to higher port
capacities while ensuring maximum transport efficiency.
Evolution of the platform feature set includes support for IPTV services, including Gigabit Ethernet
(GbE) network interfaces for maximum compatibility with IP SDV Headends and evolving IP transport networks.
The CNX-5Plus can start as a compact ATM DSLAM and later evolve to support GbE and IPTV services with a
single card upgrade.

The CN 4350™ Ethernet Services Provisioning Switch, designed for service provider residential and commercial triple-play networks, combines transport optics and higher layer packet switching to deliver a powerful solution unmatched in today's 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching market. The CN 4350 Ethernet Services Provisioning switch combines IEEE 802.1Q Ethernet Bridging with carrier-grade reliability, performance, and management capabilities for deployment in service provider residential and commercial triple-play networks. The CN 4350 system is a NEBS 3 and ETSI-certified ten slot chassis with redundant common equipment. Major CN 4350 components include the 160 Gb/s Fabric and Control module (PFX-80), 10 port 1 Gigabit Ethernet Module (PSC1), and 1 port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Module (PSN10). The PFX80 provides non-blocking connectivity between all 8 interface module slots. Each interface slot can be populated with any mix of PSC1 and PSN10 modules-supporting up to 80 full duplex Gigabit Ethernet or eight 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The PSC1 and PSN10 support pluggable optics, SONET-like performance monitoring, packet processing, and embedded signaling and control channels
The CN 4350's high-performance switching—enabled by Ciena's unique VirtualWire™ VLAN technology—provides guaranteed bandwidth and low deterministic latency and jitter. Support for 4096 VLANs per interface allows scalable connectivity between network devices. VirtualWire VLANs enable port trunking, cross-connecting, and switching with TDM-like performance. Support for QoS with up to eight classes of service—including two priority queues for VoIP and video traffic—ensures zero contention among services with strict subscriber segregation and service level agreements.
