SLC-5

The SLC Series 5 carrier system can be configured as a Universal (Central Office and Remote Terminals) or Integrated (Direct TR-08 or TR 303 switch interface) Digital Loop Carrier system providing POTS and Special Services over metallic span lines or fiber. Available services include: POTS, SPOTS (loop or ground start), Multi-party, 2 and 4-wire VF services (TO, E/M, etc.), DID, Coin, Digital Data (2.4 to 64 kb/s).

Important features of the Series 5 system are:

• Twice the number of channels in the same equipment space as the SLC 96 system
• Flexible channel unit slots – any channel unit can go into any slot
• Simplified special services design using provisionable channel units
• RT channel units can be provisioned from the COT
• ESF framing provides improved special service operations and better line monitoring
• Automatic common-system trouble isolation
• An option for automatic protection line switching
• Optional B8ZS coding on the digital line for 64 kb/s Clear Channel capability
• Span powering and power looping LIU’s for direct connection to a T-1 facility
• Automatic POTS provisioning (plug and play)
• Automatic Coin service provisioning (coin-first or dial-tone-first) depending on coin line

The RT can be configured in a weather-proof outdoor housing with integrated power, ringing and battery backup.
